i am plastering straight onto plasterboard on an area of 6 square meters. do i do the lot in one go, 1st then 2nd coat, or do i do halve then halve. if doing the latter is it easy to blend the two halves together and if so how is this done?

Plasterboard is usually 'skimmed' with a single 3mm coat of 'Thistle' board finish plaster after scrimming (taping) the joints.
If you haven't done plastering before you would be better off practicing as it needs a high level of skill. Better still why not just leave the wall dry lined and paper it as most new houses are done.
