Can I use my slow cooker as a rice cooker or would I do better spending a few quid and get a rice cooker in the black Friday deals. Thanks.

Slow cooker rice is great, no need for a rice cooker. I googled 'cooking rice in slow cooker', there were many hints and tips given and I always cook rice now in my Crockpot, lovely.
I cook rice by the "absorbtion method" in a heavy pan (lidded) over a very low heat. Perfect results and no extra gadgets...in fact, it IS a rice-cooker when used that way.

Thanks St Pete.
There's probably not much point looking for a Black Friday deal anyway:

As SP48 says, you can certainly use a slow cooker for rice
https://www.wikihow.com/Cook-Rice-in-a-Slow-Cooker
but I'm mystified as to why anyone should want to. Rice is incredibly easy to cook in a pan.
Easy to do in the microwave too.
I have found the microwave the answer to perfect rice. Spot on every time.
1 cup of Basmati to 1.5 cups water after rinsing the rice in running water. Then I add a blob of olive oil or butter and season it.
Cook on full for 13 mins and leave.
When ready to serve fluff up with a fork and give it 2 mins to reheat. Et Voila, perfection.
I also might add Garam Masala if for Indian meal or Chinese spices for..Chinese.
