Two of the grills on the above stove give a high yellow/blue flame,I've had the cooker quite some time now and the individual parts are not easy to align. How can the flames be adjusted to give just a blue flame? Not much info I know.Thanks.
Try taking off and cleaning and replacing the metal bits on each burner. If that doesn't help, it might require some adjustment of the gas supply to the burners, which might be behind or under the knob. Maybe get someone to check it for you.
Yellow flames are a sign that the gas isn't burning fully and there will be carbon monoxide present which is toxic. Do you have a carbon monoxide monitor? You need to get your cooker checked.
As John says, the yellow flame indicates that the gas isn't getting enough oxygen to burn properly. If you can get to them, check that the castings between the gas jets and the gas input haven't had something spilled on them which is partly clogging the air inlet hole. In early cookers they were easily removable, so it was easy to take them out to clean them, but I don't know if it's still the case with modern ones.
Hi one and all,I have tried most of your suggestions except the one that athiest said about the gas control,Could you be more specific please ^A^.Thanks to you all.
I'm no expert on gas cookers. When mine was installed the fitter pulled off each knob and inserted a small screwdriver into the hole and turned it this way and that until the flame looked good. I suspect that's not your problem. Make sure that each burner has the metal bits on top of it properly seated; twiddle them around a bit until they feel good.
Thanks A, that is my problem. But when I pull off each knob all I can see it a DARK hole,so any chance of my finding an adjustment screw is remote, that is if there is one.But there must be one somewhere HELP.
If you insert a nice small screwdriver and turn it around a bit inside you should be able to feel it engage with the screw slot. It might not work, but it's what I'd try.
Have you really cleaned the burner metal bits and cleared any holes or slots? Perhaps a hole in the base of the burner, close to where the spark appears.
Remember if the flame is yellow it's a shortage of air you're looking for, not a shortage of gas. You need to find the hole between the gas coming into the cooker and the burner which allows air to mix with the gas; if there is anything at all around that hole clean it off.
