Not A Question But Good News1

On 17th July last year our cat Bracken went out and didn't come home. He often went walkabout for days at a time so we didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary. We asked about on social media but got nothing. As the days and weeks went by we did think the worst. Then yesterday I got a message on Facebook with a photo asking 'could this be your cat?' It was! He had been living rough THREE streets away! A lady had been feeding him as the weather had turned and she had made him a shelter because she couldn't take him in as she had cats of her own. My daughter went to pick him up and he's now home safe and sound! I can't explain why he didn't come home, only that he must have gone somewhere he hadn't been before and got disoriented. Anyway I'm over the moon he's back!

Congratulations that’s wonderful news, cats are fickle creatures.
Perhaps something scared him and he got confused.

Thank you all. I'm really happy he's back. You can't imagine all the things that have gone through my mind over the past six months but I can put them all behind me now he's back! :)

Cats can be fickle creatures and don't really have any loyalty lMO. They will go wherever the accommodation and food is best. Mine went out for her normal nightly stroll, never to return. Knocked on lots of doors, checked with Vets, no sign.

my cat tigger went walkabout and came back over three or four months later, the state he was in indicated he had been bitten many times, and possibly lived off scraps wherever. When he finally came home got him to the vets who said he would calm down if he was neutered which to some extent he did. When he died i was totally bereft and vowed never to have another pet. Which i haven't as i can't manage the 4 flights of stairs to let them in or out however many times a day now.

Thanks to the new posters. He's settled back in quite well. All I can think of is that he mistook the lady's house for ours after he got lost. Their house is in the same position as ours on their road, they have the same drive and gates and the house opposite has the same hedge! I may be wrong but it's a thought.
