Cats And Hot Tubs!

We have a large outdoor hot tub. One that’s inflated but it’s up permanently, with a lid. It’s very heavy duty, and has been out there for about a year now.
Well, I desperately miss having a cat, after mine died, and would love to get another one, but Mr Smow is convinced it will burst the hot tub by stretching out with its claws. I personally think the material it’s made from is so heavy duty that it would be very very hard to burst. Ironically yesterday I looked outside and there was a cat asleep on top of it!
What do you think??

Smow if you are worried you can trim cats claws, making sure you do not cut the quick, videos on line, take your pick.

If it's hot, chances are cats will be drawn to it. lid on equals underfloor heating for a cat.

Didn’t think about trimming the claws lol. And yes it’s hot at the mo - bet the cat loved laying on top!

What about building some kind of timber cladding around it?

Cladding is a lot of work and expense, depending on diameter and depth, and what do you do at the top to cover gap made that wet small feet can slide down.

family had a hot tub and then sold it as it was so expensive to run -

Emmie it’s not on 24-7 as I agree with you. We just switch it on the day before we want to use it.

i think they did use it at the beginning, i was asked if i wanted a dip and politely said no ta.

Was lovely in the really hot summer - we just didn’t heat it up lol. So cooling!

If neighbours' cats aren't damaging it, I don't see why your own cat would.
