Anyone With Any Electrical Knowledge?
9 Answers
Hi. I have a 10ft circular swimming pool which I am am about to put up. Last year we had the 2.8kw heater plugged into a mains socket, but this year we're moving the pool farther from the house. We're getting an electrician to install an outside socket but he can't do it for a couple weeks. Is there any way I use some kind of insulated extension cable so I can plug the heater in?

Anyway, waterproof ones are available if you need one.
Since you've had this plugged in before, I assume you've made sure you have RCD Protection.
The house system may or may not have RCD protected circuits. If not, then include a plug-in RCD in the set-up.
Also, make sure the extension is at least 1.5mm cable. They mostly are, but I have seen very cheap ones with only 1.00mm cable.
