Might Anyone Have A Non-Premium Contact Number For Jd Williams, Or Premierman?

Ahhhh the frustration. I thought I had finally beaten the beast. Over the past 4 years I have relied upon a local telly number for Premierman, JD Williams, et al., to place orders, make enquiries, etc.

But it appears that the scallywags have now dropped that number altogether and I'm, once again, left having to call either a 10p a minute line, or alternatively a 13p per minute line.

I simply won't do it. There's something uniquely British about the companies who have the cheek to make a customer pay for the privilege of giving them our custom. It's downright outrageous! And yet, we, as consumers, still willingly participate in this charade.
My old 'Go To' number was 0161 386 2091. There's one other number: 0161 236 8256, I can reach, operating under the name of R Brown. This is, in fact, another JD Williams Trading name. However, the chap who answers the phone can only offer the 0345 number for contact.

Should anyone have a nifty little number to hand I could use, I'm sure you would be richly rewarded in Heaven.....just probably not by JD Williams!

Many thanks! Ollie

BT abolished 'local' call rates in July 2004. Since then they've only had a 'national' rate for 01 and 02 numbers. So it costs exactly the same amount to call someone at the other end of the country as it does to call your next door neighbour. Under Ofcom rules, all telephone service providers (both landline and mobile) must charge exactly the same for 03 numbers...

Unfortunately, JD Williams have a plethora of numbers, many of which are disconnected. The 'House of Bath' 'Switchboard' number, 0161 238 2000 is now answered as R Brown. (Possibly yet one more trading name for Williams), which acknowledge they're part of JD Williams, but are unable to transfer calls into the Premierman, or JD Williams support desk. Scallywags, the lot!
Thanks for trying JNO! :-)
I see they've pulled out of the US market

You seem to have an "old-style" telephone bill package, which charges for each individual call and charges more the longer you're connected.
You could consider updating to an "all-inclusive" package...for example, mine includes all calls to landlines and mobiles 24/7 and the calls can last up to an hour without further charge.

So it will cost you just the same to call any 01, 02 or 03 number as it did to call an 0161 number.
