Might anyone know of another line of enquiry I might pursue to obtain some of these useful and much loved items. My Mum had dozens of them when I was a kid during WW11, but, sadly all traces have long since disappeared. They were only about 6” long but were mainly used to pin fresh meat into joints so didn’t need to be 24” long like the only ones that seem to be available today. Historically, because they were short, they could be stored in a regular cutlery draw or, because of the circular loop on the end, could be hung in small bunches on any convenient hook. Indeed, dad used to use them for all manner of DIY jobs; we even used them when camping in the summer hols to secure tent flaps and hold other things down: their easy stow dimensions being an important feature. They didn’t rust - another plus - and could be used to pin down the ground sheet on a picnic outing. Why on earth did they stop making them. I’m big on DIY and use metal pins for all sorts of outdoor jobs in the garden, but over time they rust and have to be either cleaned up or discarded and replaced. The old butcher’s skewers did not rust and likely, would last forever.

have you tried looking on Amazon, they seem to have loads - perhaps not what you are after?
i put in 6inch butchers skewers and it came back with my link, see if that helps.... its on e bay.
Probably not used a lot (if at all) today because butchers tend to tie meat rather than skewer.
i found lots of examples on amazon, e bay which i have linked to...
The "old-fashioned" type were twisted along their whole length...current ones seem to be flat.
i have some, used many times for skewering meat. they are the twisted type
My local butcher sells them, I have got half a dozen some were my Mum's I always use one to test my cakes
AS Emmie has said they sell a good variety of sizes on Amazon.
Easiest way is go to your local butchers .He would have them at a far cheaper price than Amazon
Try a traditional hardware store but look in the gardening section, rather than in the kitchen one. You might find something similar there, for use as plant supports, etc. For example, just a short drive away from me here in Suffolk, I can buy these: https://tinyurl.com/7ynyn4py
