Before returning an item with QR code sticker, I want to be absolutely sure. The instructions refer to Post Offices but the map shows up red Post Office boxes nearby to me. Is it OK to post item there?
You're meant to take the item into a Post Office in order to obtain proof of posting and tracking details. If you drop it into a Royal Mail parcel post box (or an ordinary post box if it's small enough to fit), the postage label is still valid but you won't have any form of redress if it goes missing. because you won't be able to prove that you returned it.
I wouldn't post any item I was returning to any seller by post box - there is no proof of posting.
The onus is on you to prove that you posted it if you want a refund
Sorry to be so dim. If I post through the red letter box it will be with the QR code provided online by Amazon attached to it. If I go to the PO what do I have to take, as well as the package so that when it is opened at Amazon it can be identified as coming from me?
If you are returning something and the seller knows, there would have been some email communication with the seller or Amazon telling you what to do.
One thing is you have to have the barcodes either displayed or in package with your name & reason for returning. You do need proof of posting.
Thanks for all contributions. In the event is was simple. Unaddressed parcel weighed at PO, the QR code scanned, label printed and receipt given. The refund was made before the parcel arrived.
