Provenance Please

This is in 2 pieces, top & bottom. Maybe oak. Its too heavy for indoors so situ in stable. Any info appreciated.

I'm not great on furniture but I would say the top and bottom are not a match. I would say that is a bastardised piece. But I should probably stick to what I know.

You could send a photo to a local valuer and ask them.

It has a Germanic feel to it, I also agree it looks a bit of a marriage in places.

The carvings at the top of the doors match the carvings at the top of the piece so I wouldn't say it's a mixture but what do I know?

Yes, those do match - I just feel the carved upper middle section is very different to the lower.

I've seen pieces like that in local antiques shops. Always assumed they were European, and usually came from Victorian houses that were being refurbished.

I think it is German, certainly in style, but wonder what it's doing in England? It must be in oak, could even be a Victorian pastiche (but probably not) the best identifiers would be the construction of the drawers & the locks & hinges, but appears that doors don't have metal hinges but operate on pins (dowels) into the carcass, is that correct?
