Moving To Scotland

Slight disagreement on this so does anyone know what are the rules on receiving either medical care, like registering with a GP or nhs dentist if moving from England to Scotland and would you get free prescriptions if over 60? Thank you

Free prescriptions, travel pass getting you on buses free and concessions on trains.
Our GP asks for your address to check if you're within the catchment area and an NHS dentist is just a matter of searching your locality.

Best to ignore the jealous sniping from those unwilling or unable to make the journey and just settle in after the welcome party. :-)

All I know is that we always holiday in Scotland and a couple of years ago the shower mat hadn't been pressed down in the holiday cottage, so first morning (Sunday) I went flying and got a 4" long gash down my shin. Just went to the local A&E and got patched up, no problem, on a temporary resident basis. They officially discharged me to the care of my local hospital in Yorkshire.
Another year OH (80+) managed to leave his carefully packed box of medication on top of the 'fridge. After many phone calls, the hospital at Melrose sorted all that out as well to keep him going until we could get back. It was all free, just as here and co-operation between surgeries was easy.

Oh, and the water is lovely (as it is in most of the W. Riding - soft to wash the fleeces).

I'm sure there are lots of fabulous pros to moving to Sotland but personally soft water is not one of them. It's a pain trying to rinse soap or shampoo out and it tastes horrible.
