Whilst it’s a huge help , how will ‘they establish ’ who’s poor and who’s not for the extra £650 as well as the £400 per household?
Would that be for those on benefits?

Its not clear from the link who is this targeting?
England
England and Wales
Britain

Uk
The headline says 'Britons'.
From the link, "We will provide significant support to the British people." Guess that means Britain, Redhelen.
Hmm so not Northern Ireland Ken?
Maybe I am picking this up wrong.

My mistake. Well as usual we'll have to wait on the small print I guess.
does anyone know if any of the amounts announced today will be taxable?

Good question mushroom
We should probably thank Sue Gray for this :-)
Seems daft if it's going to a lot of folks who don't need it. If the fuel companies had guessed that windfall taxes would be in the pipeline (!) they could have just kept their prices lower in the first place.
the 5C will probably find something to moan about.

Not necessarily, its such a piffling amount it would cost more to sort out who has and who hasnt.

Most seems to be going to those on benefits anyway.

It beggars belief how much profit companies like BP make and the lame excuse from them is they need it to invest
