Long-Standing Question!

During kitchen refurbishment in 2010, I had an integral, under worktop, fridge incorporated into the scheme. It was NOT EVER switched ON, not even tested (apart from checking the electric connection functioning), because I already had two other fridge-freezers in the vicinity.
Some days ago, I lost use of the fridge compartment of my principle fridge-freezer. The brand new, never used integral fridge seems like a shoe-in replacement...
But...the item has been sitting - switched OFF - for 12 years. Will it be safe to switch ON, without causing damage/other problems, after all this time?

I'd try it... but check it regular and it'll take 24 hrs

Should be OK. I would think that if it ever worked then it still works fine.

Having a fridge not switched on for years is uncool.

Assuming your house electrical system is healthy, then the worst that can happen is that the 13A fuse in the plug/fused spur will blow.

Or... if there's an earth fault, the RCD will operate (if you have one.)
Or... it'll switch on... but refuse to chill out :o(

Thank you all, and especially The Builder, for giving me the confidence to "switch on and hope"; result so far has been most encouraging!
The fridge switched on successfully, started cooling immediately, and has been operating normally to date. I'm very happy...
