If you choose the lighter weights, (190 or 300 gsm), then they should go through your printer without problem - I've been able to use both these weights in mine. Heavier weights of paper tend to start slipping, so are best avoided.
i don't know where you live but in the lake district near kendal is croppers paper mill. they have a pick n mix shop where you buy a box (various sizes) and fill it with paper or card of any size. this papermill makes all types of specialist paper and card (they actually make the red paper for the poppy appeal poppy). it could have glitter or embedded textures. anyway the shop is open every day but only limited times at weekend. my family make our own cards and this is where we go.
