Workmen Removing Ivy

Asking out of curiosity after reading something. If someone is having repairs done to a roof, are the workmen within their right to remove ivy on the walls? I'm assuming it may have hindered access...but wouldn't they need permission?

If the ivy belonged to another property, then there might be a legal recourse. If the ivy was on the neighbour's land, then a neighbour would be allowed to weed his garden, and removing ivy would be that sort of thing.
Pasta, I've no legal knowledge about this. I presume you'd have no recourse in law. Maybe suing for something or other, but I doubt if you'd do that. It's prob just a life lesson for you to assume the worse and make sure you avoid it. I wouldn't have seen it coming, unless I'd been there observing and put my foot down.
