Looked out of the train window & noted that the washing line clothes of the Cardiff suburbs were of an expensive material. As the train progressed through the villages just outside Cardiff the washing line clothes were older & of a less expensive material the washing line clothes were of a less expensive material. This trend to cheaper materials continued to the valleys where the clothes were of the cheapest material & often patched. To end his speech in the valleys the politician said that he wanted to bring the expensive clothes of the Cardiff suburbs to the valleys of South Wales. Can anyone help me with details of this? Who was the politician? Who told the story on the radio? Where can I see the actual story?

Reads like something Lloyd George would have said.
Checked Foot, Bevin, Keir Hardie and Lloyd George. Can't find a reference.
Does sound like something Michael potilo would report . He's not Welsh but he could of told the story of a Welsh one on a trip.
