Nothing until December as we're on a fixed rate ATM but then it will treble, apparently. Currently paying around £60/mnth with Octopus.
Sorry, that's electricity only.
I pay quarterly with Scottish Gas and it's gone from about £240 last year to £550 before government handout, netting down to just under £490 so double in cash terms.

Either that or it was a three month heatwave and we never washed or cooked July-October last year.

Spivved again.
douglas, you'd have saved £55 if you paid by monthly direct debit but it's your choice
At least we’ll save on leccy when the power cuts kick in!

Nine months after that, the birth rate will spike!
We pay by DD for both together and it's £150 a month at present and with the governments handout we have been told that its going to go down from October. That's with EON.
Glad we kept the candles. May need them.
I wouldn't trust them with my bank details.

Have you seen the state of their website?

Technology seems to be alien to them.
The BBC News ticker headline: Liz Truss says the UK is well prepared to avoid blackouts.

Phew, mind at ease then, Blackpool here we come!
There's never been much sense in trying to work out by how much my electricity payments have changed with British Gas. They've had over thirty years to assess my average annual usage but they still keep putting my direct debits up really high for a few months and then dropping them really low for the next few months. Over the past few years, I've had payments of well over £200 per month taken from my account during some periods but well under £100 per month during others.

I'm currently paying £185 per month. The BG website says that I'm over-paying but I like it that way. I prefer to build up a nice healthy credit balance, so that I don't have to worry too much when I finally decide that it's time to turn some heating on.
Chris, you've mentioned before the eye-watering sums you've been paying in direct debits for your small and (I think) electric-only property. Unless you're sitting around all day every day in just your underpants with every heater and appliance switched on, I really can't see how you could be incurring the costs you describe.

Have you not taken regular meter readings and worked it out for yourself?

If you look at your account online tonight you'll probably see that the first £66 of the government's £400 has landed - so your DD should come down!
Bulb have contacted me today and want to reduce my direct debit by 25%. I probably won’t.
