Alcoholic Drinks That Warm The Cockles

Does anyone drink Whiskey Mac, a cocktail of whiskey and Stone's green ginger wine, any more? I remember drinking that … and it really did warm the cockles.

Another winter treat is warm brandy - as the Hungarians do it. Not just lukewarm but warm enough to thaw chilly hands through the glass too.

I think the frosty scene outside this morning triggered these memories. For me, on a day like this, those drinks beat a glass full of ice. Does anyone else have any favourite cockle-warmers?

I was introduced to the Whiskey Mac...and Stones...by my late in-laws when they lived up in Scotland.
I fancy one now. I've got a stinking cold and that would go down a treat.

I'd worry about losing the alcohol if I went around warming my brandy. What a waste if it did.

Barry, have you tried a Dark and Stormy? It’s like a Moscow mule but with spiced rum instead of vodka (and we make it with Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer, hic!) We partook (?) of a few last night :)
Yes, Naomi, we sometimes have a whiskey Mac, reminds me of my dad, he rarely drank but did enjoy one at Christmas.
