? Frozen pipe to the inlet???
Is the manual no help? There's usually a section near the end that explains what flashing lights mean.
Question Author
I've checked the pipe and moved it about a bit. Do I have to unplug it and look inside?
Another likely problem is a blocked filter on the outlet.
Question Author
I've looked for the manual but I can't find it amongst all my other manuals. The washing machine was already in the house when I bought it. They left a load of manuals but not that one.
You might find a manual online, depending how old the machine is and you know the model number.
It's ALWAYS worth checking the filter; it seems to cure most faults even if it doesn't look relevant. In your case it feels a real possibility as a blocked filter will stop it emptying. Give it a go.
I agree with bhg - a blocked filter can be the cause of many problems. Don't forget to put a tray and towels down before you unscrew it!
Question Author
I opened the filter and there was a penny and a couple of labels which I pulled out. It still doesn't work and 'End' keeps flashing when I turn it on.
Have you tried actually unplugging it, tigger? Often helps with printer problems, and it might with this.....
Turn off at the mains for a couple of minutes. Sometimes it loses its marbles :-)

I've hand-washed sons school jumper and trousers and put them into the tumble dryer for a bit as I don't have enough strength to fully wring.

Also caught my neighbour whilst putting bins out and she's gonna ask her husband to pop round and have a look. My boiler stopped working the other night and he fixed it as it lost pressure.
The water inlet hose has a gauze filter fitted in the possibly blue plastic connector. This sometimes gets blocked or furred up with lime scale in hard water areas. If you turn off the water using the little lever in the copper pipe that it is connected to then take off the hose and insppect the mesh filters. If they are clear or you can pass water(not you personally) through the hose then we look at something else. You can use a hose from any machine to replace it, even the hot water inlet hose if it has one.
Question Author
I tried to open the water inlet but couldn't. My pliers are big enough to round it.
If that hose looks good I would suspect the door lock. You could try giving it a hefty thump in the closer switch area or open and slam it shut again.
Question Author
I tried the door lock first, Togo.

I watched a YouTube clip on how to clean the water inlet, Tuvok, but I need bigger pliers as mine are too small.
Check that the programme selector is not on "another programme" if it is on a wash cycle then hold down the start/pause button for about 10 seconds. This resets some machines.

From the photo, what bit do you mean, Togo?
