Mortar stains on slabs

I've brushed dry mortar over the patio and rinsed it in, as the book says. However I've got mortar 'stains' on the surface of the slabs that a 2000psi jet wash can't remove. Is there a chemical solution to this problem?

as a bricklayer, I for once feel confident in my answer! The best soloution is specially prepared mortar acid, the best of these is produced by Feb-products.
