Scottish Law On Heat Detectors ^ Smoke Alarms
In February 2022 Scotland apparently changed the law on these so that every home in Scotland has to have them so my question is that we recently looked at purchasing a property in Scotland that only has x1 smoke alarm and has been for sale approx 3 months and should they have had all the heat detectors and an extra smoke alarm installed before they put it upfor sale?

As I read it (and I'm confident that I'm right here), the only 'penalty' a vendor faces when placing a non-compliant home on the market is the inclusion of a reference to such non-compliance in the Home Report.
As an analogy, the situation is akin to selling a home that's badly in need or rewiring. The vendor isn't obliged to have the property rewired before offering it for sale.
