Decs.are usually taken down on twelfth night which is January 5th.There are several different versions of which date is twelfth night, but I have always worked on the assumption that is Jan.5th and remembered it because it was my Mum's birthday and wedding anniversary.I am sure I shall be corrected if I am wrong!!!

Happy New Year.

Took ours down yesterday.....christmas is now over, we have a smallish lounge and the tree takes up too much room.

Was thinking of taking ours down for that exact reason!

Hubbie is away and doesn't get back til tomorrow so I'm not sure he'd be too pleased to find it gone! I'm back at work on Tuesday so I may just leave it for him to do while he's still on hols!

I always keep mine up on 6th for my birthday, so that accounts for my bad luck!!
you have to have it up for new years eve/day surely!!! i take mine down on 2nd jan - it really is all over by then and glad to see the back of it all by then!!! Happy New Year eveyone!!

Twelfth night is 6th January so Scarlett enjoy your birthday with no worries about bad luck!! This year will be very lucky for you - trust me I'm a medium, it says so in my thermal vest.

ROBINIA I love you.

Thanks so much- it's exactly what I need!!!x

I go for the 6th January too.

If you count from Christmas Day 12 nights. It must be the 5th Jan. We argue about this every year because I say as long as they are down by that date it's ok. I usually take mine down straight after New Years day.
Jan 5th is indeeed 12th night - which is when we take our decorations down.
Then again we don't put them up until after last sunday in Adavent (the llast sunday before Christmas).
Once the decorations are down I'll have to start dusting again - having them around has been a good excuse to avoid knocking all the stuff over! And if you want to recycle your Christmas cards, take them into Tesco or W.H. Smith where they're providing special recycling bins until the end of January. The proceeds of the repulping will be given to the Woodland Trust to help them fund the planting of new trees.

The argument rages on year after year ;-) .....
12th night (12th day of Christmas) has always been for me, & everyone I know, the 6th January.

Have a great birthday Scarlett!

Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Is anyone monitoring this as it's been days since the last posting.

For clarification - when do I need to take the decorations down? I agree 12th night is the 6th but does that mean they need to be down by midnight on the 5th, by dusk on the 6th or by midnight on the 6th.

I believe it is the 6th, or at least that is what I am hoping given I can not be bothered to do it today!!
