Death by Christmas lights!

As I was driving around tonight it struck me how many houses had lights on their roofs and chimneys. I then began to think that it must be a tricky job getting the lights up there and that there must be some unfortunate souls that never see Christmas because they come to grief trying to be festive!

Anyone got any idea as to how many people are injured/killed by Christmas lights in the UK every year?

There was a news item recently, where a complete family died, their house caught fire while they were asleep. Blame was put on their Christmas lights, afraid I don't know the details, shorted etc.

Last year there were twelve people killed by watering their christmas tree with the lights on!!! I'm pleased that the Darwinian principle of survival of the fittest is still alive!
