Small boat crossings are dangerous, unnecessary and put lives at risk. There have been appalling and preventable tragedies in the Channel which must stop.
We aim to deter illegal entry to the UK, break the business model of people smugglers and protect the lives of those they endanger.
Migrants are brought to facilities in Kent to begin processing their asylum claims.
Full screening of people’s identity, security checks, initial asylum screening and processing is undertaken at the Western Jet Foil in Dover and Manston, Kent.
Migrants are then securely moved to suitable accommodation locations as quickly as possible.//
Last sentence. Why the hell do these government numbnuts mention this. 'Securely moved' eh. Once they arrive in their floating hotel they will be able to come and go as they please and the government are going to supply a frigging bus shuttle for them.
Once full these barges should be towed out to sea.

what do you think we should do about it...
simple, short of putting them on boats and take them out off the Lizard to let them sink...
seriously, 'you want to stay in this country, you work' - there's more than enough jobs for fruit and veg picking down here, helping finish the A30 - which looks like it's way behind its target date 5 months hence, general farming jobs and hospitality. None of these boats but bring up caravans and establish small centres and, at the same time, doing away with massive camps that lead to ghettoism and so they can better integrate with their fellow workers.
And from what I hear there are similar needs to support our economy elsewhere. One of the Brexit failures was that we didn't build enough flexibility into retaining our European neighbours who provided the basic 'sweat' for some of our industries - largely as th decision making for what's needed wasn't regionalised or put to county level......Here's a chance to rectify the situation - but other than the initial accommodation, life shouldn't be a breeze for them or better than what Mr or Mrs ABC gets from being on the tram to the Job Centre.

What I don't get are the number of those coming from former French colonies, especially algeria,West Africa parts of Syria and Libya, and Somalia, they come through a safe country where they probably speak the language to some extent, and still want to come here. Those we should be able to return to france. Those from the old Empire we may have a degree of responsibility for.
I doubt that many of these illegal immigrants have come all this way to get their hands dirty and work. They have come here to enjoy the benefits of our Welfare state which those who live here have paid into all OUR working lives. Our welfare state is now crumbling due to the excesses imposed on them .
A few of these chancers will disappear into the system where more dirty money can be made without them getting their hands dirty picking lettuces. drugs, prostitution etc etc.
