Why does it annoy me when people post on Facebook something they have done but it the word 'cheeky' in front of it?

For example

' a cheeky meal before cinema'.

' a cheeky biscuit before bed'

'cheeky shopping spree'

'cheeky this cheeky that'

Its annoying

Everyone - go do one

Irritates me too! Also when it's someone's birthday and a friend posts ''Hope you get spoiled rotten!''

Can't stand that!

I remember a colleague a few yrs ago asking me if I fancied a cheeky drink later.

It's not a word I hear that often!

Lovely reply from the OP ..... not.

21.19 she's a charmer!

Ellie - not too fussed about the spoiled rotten saying but can see how it can become  irritating over time :D Maybe it's to do with a word being used too much

I answered as best I could: sometimes it seems to be a variant of "sneaky". I'll keep it to myself next time.

Question Author

It prob is implying sneaky, it seems to be very modern word

Ohh sorry all of you just reread/realised. I thought I'd typed facebook in my post, I was referring to those on fb who label everything as cheeky.

You're a cheeky kid you, bluefortress! 😄

I watch narrowboat vlogs on YouTube and there is a lovely woman who can never go for a coffee - it is always a 'cheeky coffee'.  It sets my teeth on edge.

I remember a Countdown Dictionary corner guest who would often say "There's a cheeky little 8-letter word in there"

No, it's not cheeky. It's a word to be found from those letters. So stop saying that, please

That irritates me too.

'Love you to the moon and back' works as well.
