I have received everything in the one go.

I received (first time) a Blue Badge for my car

Notification of my car tax

Certificate of Insurance

Anyway I was googling some time back long before I got the Blue Badge but found that anyone having a Blue Badge could be tax exempt.

I have phoned the car tax office - first time for 18 minutes then line went dead.

Second time phoned a long time and found that I had been contacting wrong office - he said he would transfer me to the right department and again after 14 minutes - line went dead.

All I am asking for is there a form I could fill in either paper or online.  Looked online but can't find anything.  Anybody help.  I'm fed up being on the phone and always can't hear.  I believe our rules in Northern Ireland can be different.  Thanks for any answers.

looked at the links - yes have seen them all - earlier I went round to my post office and she wasn't helpful either.  One minute she said - contact car tax, then DVLA  etc etc.

Having a blue badge does not automatically qualify you for free road tax.  You have to be in receipt of one of the following benefits to qualify:

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) • Personal Independence Payment (PIP) • Child Disability Payment (CDP) • Adult Disability Payment (ADP) • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) • War Pensioners Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

This explains it

https://www.gov.uk/financial-help-disabled/vehicles-and-transport#:~:text=Vehicle%20tax%20exemption&;text=You%20can%20apply%20for%20exemption,of%20Adult%20Disability%20Payment%20(%20ADP%20)

Having a Blue Badge doesn't give automatic entitlement to an exemption or a 50% reduction of the car tax.

If you go to this link which applies to Great Britain and Ulster, you will see the qualifying conditions so do you satisfy at least one of them?

BARRY got there first...

Your link is neater

That's what annoys me, Corby.  People see a blue badge on a sporty car or a top of the range Range Rover, Audi etc and complain that it was given to a disabled person for nothing.  It wasn't, most blue badges are on privately owned cars.  Around 650,000 people have a mobility car in the UK, over 2.5 million have a blue badge.

Sorry, I've digressed.

BARRY, a lot of folk also think a Motability Scheme car is free but the money from the person's qualifying benefit is paid directly to the scheme.

I know, it drives me mad.  They could spend that money on the bookies, fags, beer and women instead.   😁  Or bingo, fags, gin and gigolos, depending on preference.
