Can anyone help me with a stupid question!
We current have laminate flooring but we're getting a carpet - will we have to take up the laminate flooring or can a carpet be laid on top?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.i would definately take up the laminate flooring, and then lay the carpet, beacause as well as having the hassle of shaving the bottoms off doors etc. laminate flooring is laid as a "FLOATING FLOOR" in that it is not fixed to the existing floor and is therefore free to expand and retract at will, and you would have to fit your carpet grippers on top of this, which would then also move with the floor, which could cause major problems.
much safer to take up the floor first.
