Manchester United is one of the richest clubs in the world

yet....//One of the projects to benefit is plans to redevelop Manchester United's Old Trafford football stadium.

Manchester United are set to make a decision by the end of the season on whether to redevelop the existing stadium into an 87,000-capacity venue or build a brand-new 100,000-capacity ground.

The Old Trafford scheme will use public money to move three rail freight terminals blocking the redevelopment.

Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has promised the scheme will build 5,000 homes and create a second "major football campus" in the city.!//

Maybe those 5000 (no doubt much-needed) homes have something to do with it?

That's what local authorities are good at, grandstanding and virtue signalling then complaining they are skint.

And that would probably make them the 5000 most expensive homes to build in Manchester.

Its the usual nonsence in the Public arena, no concept of budget as its only tax payers cash.  The whole civil service is riddled with it too.
