We have wooden floors through the whole house. Stripped polished floorboards, and I have a large hairy dog. We use our Meile cat and dog cleaner and then I mop with an old fashioned mop and wringer bucket and this gets rid of all the dust.I just use a drop of Cif oxygel liquid in the water to give a nice fresh smell. Dysons are useless on wooden floors. We had one and it is now consigned to the loft.

I may be wrong but I get the impression Dyson's are pretty useless generally, contrary to the over-hyped advertising. I remember reading an article in the paper in which the writer said she took her Dyson to a vacuum cleaner repair shop and when the man pulled a curtain aside to put the machine in an alcove, it was filled with nothing but Dysons. When she asked, he said he gets them in all the time and could run the place as nothing but a Dyson repair shop.

Different day, different article, different writer, and she said she lived near the Dyson factory (no idea where that is) and she said no-one round there has one. Loads of people in the aread work in the factory and it's well known (apparently) that they're not nearly as good as they're made out.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant against Dysons, but that's just two articles I've read, and I've also personally heard several people say they're not very happy with their Dyson. Mm... the power of advertising...

A damp swiffer type mop to gather dust and dirt, then good old fashioned hands & knees job with wood soap this way u can dry with different cloth & no streaks
