I have a recipe that I would like to try out for mint chocolate mousse. The recipe says I need to use a bar of mint chocolate. Does anyone know where i can get some from? it needs to be just a chocolate bar that is mint flavoured. i.e, not with bits of mint or a creme centre etc. I cant seem to find some anywhere!!
Not the perfect solution but you could crush some mint leaves and infuse them in the melted chocolate. Or alternatively, track down some mint oil and use a few drops of that!
If you can't find any mint chocolate, peppermint oil should be perfectly satisfactory susbsitute when used with chocolate. It's obtainable from most health food shops and some chemists may sell it. Use very sparingly though. It's very concentrated and a couple of drops should suffice. It's also very comforting for indigestion when added to a small amount of hot water and sipped.
we had a mint flavour Terrys chocolate orange at christmas, it didnt have any bit in or any cream, just the mint flavour. you might still be able to get them.
If you are making a mouse thing like after 8s and mint aerors will NOT work. You need to use chocolate that has around 70% cocoa solids. I think lindt might do a mint chocolate if not but a good quality chocolate bar and use peppermint oil or essence.
