I now (if putting flannellette sheets and towels say in at once with perhaps lighter weight things) I do them on cupboard dry (for my airing cupboard) but as they are still very slightly damp when folding them smooth them carefully as I do it and they usually dry O.K.. I am pretty ancient with a serious breathing problem which was my reason for getting it as I cannot reach up because of this to hang clothes and was a bit disappointed at first that they weren't completely creaseless but even my cotton teatowels which I used to insist on ironing can be quite neatly smoothed this way. Not much help I'm afraid but perhaps a little comforting to know your mother is not alone.
