Hello, Hope someone can help.

You know where you pour Softener in your washing machine? Well, my washing machine seems to be blocked as after every wash the compartment is still full of softener.

I have tried washing it out but there seems to be no improvement.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You may need to pull the drawer out completely and get a hose in there to blast out any congeled softener. It's a tad messy but it may also help to push something like 30 amp electrical flex into the void to help clear the blockage. If this fails you could take the cover off the machine and take out the powder/softner assembly to clean it. That in itself can be a tricky job because you'll need to undo locating screws that are partially obscured by the drum assembly. If your not confident you'll need a washing machine repairer to look at it.

thanks xrayspecs. I'll try the electric flex idea and see if that works.!
This may not be caused only by a blockage, the machine puts water through the various compartments as required by the cycle, if that part of the machine is damaged the water will not go to the compartment and it will always be full of softener.
What you need to do is remove the compartment drawer and then set the machine to just before the last rinse and then let it work and watch if the water actually goes to the place where the softener would be. If no then it needs some help from a repair man.
Had a similar problem myself. I used boiling water and this solved it. Take care with the boiling water though.
Washing machines live longer with calgon
Most softner compartments have a removable syphon which is detatchable for cleaning. Remove the drawer and then the syphon and clean in hot water to remove the gunge. Refer to the instructions that came with your washing machine most of us dont but they contain good advice which keeps yor machine working sweetly.

My repair man recomends running an empty boil wash once a month which flushes out any residues.

If you have one, clean out the filter regularly it's horrible what collects there! That reduces the strain on the pump
