Phone doesn't work on extension

I have a broadband connection with a line filter that is connected to the phone socket via an extension lead due to the location of my desk in the room. If I put the phone into the filter without the extension it works but as soon as I add the extension the phone is dead. Is this a problem with the phone? Is it a problem with the line? My broadband connection works perfectly. I had this problem before and bought a new phoneline extension lead but I can't believe this has happened for a second time

Does the 'phone work if the filter is plugged into the extension & the 'phone & inet line are plugged into the filter?

Would all this work if you had two extension leads - one for phone and one for internet?

You're not going to like this but that's me stumped then!
I had the same problem but I'm using Box< filter/'phone - extension - inet.

The only thing that worked for me was to unplug the other 'phone in the house (without a filter) and all was well!?

I can't do that because then the lead from my modem wouldn't reach the filter which would be over the other side of the room by the socket. Does that make sense?!!

Have you tried unplugging all other 'phones - just to test?

Only got the one phone and one socket. I've just plugged the phone into the extension (cutting out the line filter) and it didn't work. This would indicate a problem with the extension lead but I don't understand how my broadband PC connection works through it but the phone doesn't
