Hi! I've got quite a collection of wine and champagne corks (at least a bucket full) and although I use them as crocks in the bottom of my plant pots, I was wondering whether anyone else had any other ideas for using them. It seems such a shame to just throw them away. Many thanks!

Here's a list of people with ideas for Corks hope it helps!

Here's another list Corks

If you scroll down the page on each link, there are lots of ideas - good luck!

How about cutting them in half, length ways, gluing the now flat side to a backing board and hanging it on a wall. There you are, a funky looking cork / notice board. Just make sure you have your sharp cutting tool kept with the blade into a cork when not in use!

Smudge THANK YOU! You are a STAR! I particularly like the idea of blending the corks and adding it to compost. As a keen gardener that's my fave so far. And I have considered the cork board idea but quite honestly haven't got around to it yet. I also always keep sharp scissors and craft knives shoved into corks to be on the safe side but forgot about that!

You are more than welcome Plockett - glad to be of help.

P.S. Thank goodness for the w.w.w.!

Sorry, can't give any advice about the corks but if you want help with the wine and champagne I am very willing to oblige !

Ah Dilligaf thank you so much for the kind offer, but it's an undertaking I've forced onto myself and my OH. I just wish I had room for the bottle wall I have in mind..... ;-)

if you have kids, you can slice them into discs and use as counters or similar, marking them with a felt tip, or just for glueing onto pic frames etc

also thread onto cotton for a 'bead' curtain. or small ones over windows to keep out flies like aussie hats.

also try what monsters dad said but make a mat for the bathroom floor

if you have a garden pond you could make a floating plant pot, by glueing a load together onto a pot

Am suddenly feeling in a flippant mood, so suggest you glue them all together and build a raft. When global warming increases and all the icebergs melt, most of the UK will be submerged. You will then an ideal floating Noah's Ark and can charge the rest of the population exhoribant sums for rescuing them !

HAHAHA! Nice one! Actually I asked at my daughter's school and they said they'd love to have corks for art projects. So problem solved!
