I visite a friend who leave in a westkent housing estate,recently one resident complained to west kent about us parking in the front of her house,westkent say at first that was ok as we where not doing anything wrong but naw the resident complainte again ,and westkent say that is a turning area and we should all park in the woods outside,but no signs are display or no yellow line that we cant park there,is it legal for westkent to stop us to park there if is no warning signs that we cant?sorry am not english so forgive me if is not perfect,thanks for anyone to advice me on this matter.

Who are westkent? Is it a housing association? Also, what is the status of the housing etstate? Is it a private housing estate or simply houses in a public road?

westkent is an houssing association,they own the land where the house are ,no signs to say u cant park or any turning only or any line of any kind.

If it is a private road, they can say what they like. They should put signs up advising where you can park though. I would carry on parking there until there is official signs put up.

I agree with Rachael. But do be careful, that they do not scratch your car or burst your tyres, to peeve you!

If it is a private estate and you are visiting someone who lives there and may also part own the road then you have that owners permision to park, however you should be considerate where you park if it is causing a problem. This is a civil matter only and not much they can do about it if you are only visiting.

If the road is a normal public road then contrary to what a lot of people believe, no-one has a right to park anywhere. The road is intended for the free movement of traffic and stationary (parked) cars are tolerated unless the parking amounts to an obstruction. The upshot is that a lot of peoople who think they have a right to park outside their home are failing to appreciate their tenuous legal right as opposed to their wishful thinking.

All this may be what the law says, but a need to live in harmony with one's neigbours is another matter - and this is where some diplomacy and understanding on your part may be helpful.

like i say ,we are not disturbing anyone and this is not a road where anyone drive to it,is an acces route to other houses but they all have parking area to park they car only my friend have no space to her self ,so is why she can only park there as is close to her place,the car is parked opposite this old women who dont have a car,but when she get visitors and that is not very often,she put sign out saying no parking visitors,and in my opinion she got no right to do so anyway,we will not mind but she as been rude to us in the past and I really think she an old sad women she dont own her house and we do not cause any disturbance at all so surely the houssing association should have signs to clearly say residents only or no parking at all for anyone that in my view will be more appropriate,I call the council today and they say if the car are taxes and that is no signs to say no parking or yellow lines then is nothing to stop us ,we have alway been reasonable with anyone but no other residents have any cause for complaint,and she say now that my friend can park there but no her visitors,we not talkin many visitors at the same time,is room for 3 cars easy ,what do u think all?thanks
