pampas grass

we have just moved house and in the front garden is a huge patch of pampas grass has anyone got any idea how to get rid of it as seems to be taking over and i hate it

If you want to 'prune' it but not remove it completely, set fire to it (safely of course). May sound drastic but true. It will regrow but smaller.

I hate them too! Cut back as much as you can but be careful because the fronts are evil. Then you just have to dig and dig. It's hard work, and you'll be best to get a group of friends involved if it's a really big one, but you'll feel incredibly satisfied afterwards!
