Recycling water filter cartridges
1 Answers
Does anybody know if Kenwood have a water filter cartridge recycling scheme to where I can send my spent cartridges. I hate to just throw them away.
I know Brita does but they will only accept their own products. If anybody is interested they can be sent free of charge to BRITA RECYCLING, FREEPOST NAT17876, Bicester, OX26 4BR. Thanks.

When I worked there we threw them away (Kenwood that is and other). It also cost Brita a fortune as they had to be licensed by the Government as they are classed as a food product. Our recycling plant is in Germany. Also, when they came in, we, (my colleagues and I in our work dress - suits etc) had to open all the bags, and and put the wet, smelly cartridges in bin bags. Oh and we had to count them also!!
What you can do, is, open the cartridge, empty the contents on your garden where they will break down naturally. At Brita the carbon was made from coconut husks. I can't say for Kenwood but I would imagine they would use much the same thing. Then you just take your plastic to a plastic recycling centre (if you can find one). But once again don't send them to Brita PLEASE!!
Sorry to bang on but it was one of those things that really stopped me from enjoying my job.
