smoke smell

I've bought a book from ebay and although its in perfect condition it stinks of smoke - nearly makes me sick to open the pages. how can i get rid of the stench.

Febreze looked sensible.

Put it in a jumbo ziploc type bag with a pot of bicarb that you have punched holes in the lid off for a couple of weeks. Or if that is too much trouble pay a bit more for the same thing - a fridge de-odouriser.

Sprinke Bicarbonate of Soda between the pages and leave overnight. Then tip it out gently tapping the book.

Put in a container or plastic bag together with a fresh slice of onion which does not touch the book. Twenty four hours should do it or perhaps even overnight.
