Bathroom Ventilation

My bathroom gets very quickly steamed up especially when the shower is being used.
What would you suggest in way of ventilation or extraction?
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Hi Goya, A really good solution to this problem is a Humidity controlled extractor fan, you can fit them with an inbuilt humidistat or a remote humidistat if it is a small room go for a low voltage version,but it will have to be installed by an electrician that is registered for part p of the building regs, the alternative is to always have the window slightly ajar

Thanks Ray! What a quick reply.
That sounds just the thing. It gets very cold in winter with even a tiny bit of open window.
Are most electricians registered for part p? What I reallymean is, are they easy to find?

Hi goya, any electrician that does work in a bathroom or kitchen has to be registered for part p,it is a law that came into force in jan 05, the best thing is to ask friends or family if they know of a good local electrician, I am registered with a company called" Napit" if you don't know a local sparks go onto the Napit site or ECA, or the Niciec site and search for local tradesman I am sure anybody with one of them will give you the correct advice for your needs, Good luck,hope you find a nice friendly sparkie, Ray

Should have mentioned Goya, if you go for the Humidity controlled option,be aware that the fan will be monitored 24 hrs per day by the humidistat so it will be on & off permanently ,which if your bedroom is right by it can be a bit annoying till you get used to it. but they only cost a few pence per week to run.

It is a pleasure, you could go for the humidity one but ask the electrician if he could put an isolation switch in so you could turn it off at night.

you could purchase a basic pull cord fan. timer fan or humidistat with timer and pull cord boost.
