What could be the problem - there is this scary noise like bangs and metal sscraping/banging against metal? This only occur when the boiler starts cold with the switch on (High) position. the noise lst from 10-15 and the boiler shuts down...

zackary, First thing to check is the pump. Sounds as though the pump has packed up, therefore the hot water in the boiler is not being removed , causing all the noise, and eventually the boiler thermostat is shutting the boiler down.
