Bonsai - Japanese maple gone green!

I was given a beautiful foot-high Japanese maple 4 weeks ago and it went from red to green within 10 days. I feed it every week with specialist food.

What am I doing wrong - too sunny, too shady, too wet, too dry?

Some maples flush with red or salmon pink leaves and as the leaves age they go green. What you do will make no difference to these. Do you know what variety it is?

Agree with Alan. many maples start off with glorious bright young leaves only for them to fade to green after a short while.

Probably the most spectacular bonsai i have is A. palmatum 'deshojo' which is blood red all year.

Acers do appreciate a semi shaded postion out of cold winds. They should never be dried out and appreciate a weekly liquid feed in the growing season.

Its an acer palmatum - but I don't know below that.

Should I feed it with ericaceous food rather than bonsai?

Reading that I think that it's not enough sun - I'm being over protective!
