Stiff Bath Towels

I know now from previous threads not to use fabric softener when washing bath towels but how do I soften up my stiff towels that I previously washed with the stuff?? Or do I have to buy new ones ?? :)

If youve got a tumble dryer put them in for two minutes on high heat and it softens them up lovely.

Tried it, they come out like they've been on the line in the freezing winter - hard and unusable. I would just like to get them soft again.

I dont think there's any way you can. I recently moved from a house with a tumble drier to a house without and really noticed the difference. I think it is a result of them having been in the tumble drier at some point through the years, as the ones which have never been in the drier stay softer.

try putting a cupfull of vinigar to the last rince, it takes the residue from the soap powder out

I always use fabric softener on my towels - i can't stand the roughness otherwise. Fabric softener and then into the tumble dryer.

Have never found a better alternative.

I use tumble dryer balls from lakeland, but they're �10.00 so quite a lot of money if they don't work for you. They are supposed to cut down on your dry time too.

I like my towels on the rough side and find if you put fabric conditioner in the towel just seems to smear the water over you.

I find fabric softener affects the absorbancy of the towels - so never use it
