silverfish

my sister lives in a flat and has a few silverfish running around her bathroom and kitchen. What are they and why are they there, also how do you get rid of them, can anyone help?

silverfish like to live in places that are damp, so I would get your sister to investigate and cure the dampness. I had them once and I only knew I had them when a post it note fell on the floor over night and in the morning I found 2 silverfish stuck to it, so each night after that I left a post it note on the floor sticky side up, I must have only had a few as after a couple of nights, I had no more, but I am sure there must be a more reliable way of getting rid of them.

Silverfish like to eat dead skin flakes, thats why they are so commonly found in bathrooms. you can spray the floor with a household insecicide when not in use.

house hold flea sprays kill them something like Staykill or Acclaim 2000, I used to get thim in bedroom when I was younger and lived with my mum and dad they are compleatly harmless so I just used to leave them to it
