It will but it may make the material to stiff and more likely to crease when worn Spray starch is really for stuff like tablecloths and napkins etc.
The best stuff for a nice finish on a shirt is Fabulon which you can get at any supermarket. It makes it nice and smooth without that starchy stiffness and smells nice..
