Fire surround

Hello i'd like to made a fire surround.

As I have a gas fire fitted, what material can I use for the surround ? is there an legal Corgi requirement of the height of the hearth? (materials used etc)

Also I am thinking of making it out of MDF with a sub frame, can I spray the surface with a stone speckle finish without breaking the Corgi specs.

As this is a safety issue, no guesses on this question please.

Ideas from Corgi approved Gas men appreciated.
