When it gets discoloured what's the best way to paint it?

Painting it with a brush can be a pain ... spraying it is easier and much quicker plus it does give a better finish.

Wendy's answer is absolutely spot on in my experience. When you spray, don't attempt to get a perfect finish in one coat, or it will look cloggy. Do a series of light coats, allowing drying time in between each. It doesn't take long and the finished result will be as good as it gets.
