The lights in my house keep "dipping" suddenly- but so as you would hardly notice. Almost like you are blinking. What could be causing this?

Do you have overhead cables feeding the electric to your house? Are you rural? Could be drops in supply voltage maybe.

mine do when i turn the ketttle and the hairdryer on and return to normal when its off again.

do you have anything that that works on a sort of top up setting that turns itself on and off to keep a level maintained - like the fridge or a heater or something.

i don't know what you can do about bit though. i suppose you could try changing the plugs and fuses

We live in a rural area with overhead cables and ours dip quite a lot. Apparently it's when there is a break in the electricity supply somewhere along the line and the power station have three goes to switch you onto another supply, if they don't manage it then they have to switch off the electricity to your area to find the fault, which happens two or three times a year to us (last power cut was a fortnight ago). This dipping of the lights doesn't do any good for your light bulbs so you may find that you have to change them more regularly than people who live in a more stable electric area.
Could be a power surge - we get them and the same blinking effect happens
