Bright ideas about light bulb disposal

I like to think I try and be environmentally responsible....so what can i do with used light bulbs other than put them in the normal household waste. I have checked my local council's website but there is nothing about this on there.

As bulbs contain metal they are not suitable for glass recycling bins, so its normal waste for them.

Flourescent tubes contain mercury and this can be recycled - there are some companies in parts of the UK that will take them, but not 1 at a time - they are set up to service the wholesale replacement re-lamping in offices etc.

Make sure you replace ordinary bulbs with energy saving ones when you do change them - that saves money, reduces future landfill and saves energy requirements.

Just looked at your site, I think they must be the most dangerous ornaments you could have in your house, one slip and you will have hundreds of sharp slivers of glass all over the floor!

Put them in the bin.

LOL it isn't my site! Nothing different to the glass baubles we used to have on our christmas tree when I was a youngster in the 60s!

as a kid i used to eat them--well the glass anyway--it is so fine it can be chewwed into a powder without any problem--no one else do this?--how sick--lol
