Does anyone use a plug-in insect / fly / wasp killer? They plug into a socket and give off a uv light which attracts creatures to it which are then zapped when they go near.

I'm thinking of getting one - can anyone recommend an easy to use one? Do they use a lot of electricity? How good are they? Anything to be wary of?

Thanks in advance!

Ah. Just read that the fly explodes and covers the area with dead fly juice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone bought a venus fly trap plant?

My mum and dad bought an electric fly zapper and said it was rubbish - the flies had to come into contact with it and rarely wanted to!
I tried one once and it was awful. As plocket says, it rarely worked, but when a fly decided that it would fly close enough, the sound was horrible, as it "popped". Another wonderful invention that got dumped, I'm afraid.

Eugh!!!!! I am going to try and find a natural alternative!!!!
You should try the professional size ones that Environmental Health Inspectors like to see in commercial kitchens! Instant grilled fly legs (etc) everywhere within 5 feet. The worst thing is a big fat moth; they sizzle for ages and the smell is truly disgusting - Ok by the EHO though!! ( PS the use veruy little electricity - less than an electric chair, for example)

Gruesome details aside they basically consume the power that the tubes use, the HT system uses virtually no power.
