Recycling broken glass
7 Answers
I've broken a glass. It's in two neat pieces because it broke because of the hot water I think.
I would usually wrap it in newspaper or something like that, and then stick it in the black refuse bag. I presume it would then end up as landfill somewhere.
How could I recycle it instead? My council recycles glass bottles, but I presume they wouldn't be too happy if I sneaked a shard or two of broken glass into the container.

When the bins are emptied they are tipped into a truck which in turn tips its load at the collection centre. By this time it is quite impossible to tell what shape it initially came in - and that is immaterial anyway because it is all re-melted into a single mass for.....recycling/re-use. But always deposit pure glass, no wrapping, tops, corks, etc.
